Employer liable for defective work equipment

Mrs H of Cheshire was securing a vehicle load at work using ratchet straps when she was injured because of a faulty mechanism on one of the ratchets.

She suffered a painful and disabling injury of her left thumb.

We pursued a claim for personal injury against the employer.

Liability was not contested and the claim settled for £12,500 in compensation.
