Steve Ireland
Steve is a Partner with Paul Rooney Partnership where he heads the Personal Injury Department. He has almost 20 years experience as a specialist Personal Injury lawyer.
His main areas of work are high value cases involving spinal and brain injury and foreign accident claims.
Steve wrote the Law Society response to the Government consultation paper on the reform of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme published in 1999.
He has contributed to and written articles published in The Psychologist and Headway News. He has written Client Guides on the operation of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme and other Personal Injury actions which have been widely taken up by Victim Support groups and Citizen Advice Bureau’s.
As a past secretary of Chesterfield Headway group and a former member of Sheffield and Derby Headway Groups, Steve has been committed for many years to improving services and facilities for people after a head injury.
He has lectured extensively to other Professionals, Headway Groups, Victim Support Groups, Citizen Advice Bureau’s and the Police on a wide range of topics including the legal management of head injury cases, preparation of medical reports, the work of Headway and the assessment of loss in catastrophic cases.
Steve was the first Solicitor to recover more than 2 million pounds in compensation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority while acting for a severely head injured client.
He has been a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and a member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel for over 15 years. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice.
Outside work, Steve attends a gym on a regular basis and enjoys motor sport and travelling.
