Compensation Claims Guide

The assessment of compensation for injuries is not an exact science. The amount you receive will depend on many factors including the severity of the injury suffered, the nature and extent of the medical treatment needed and the impact and extent of any ongoing symptoms and disability.

To help us assess the correct level of damages, we will look at what has been awarded by the courts in previous similar cases and consider guidelines which are published by an organisation called the Judicial Studies Board and which have been widely adopted as a starting point for negotiations.

It follows that we can only give you an approximate idea of the amounts of compensation that are awarded for different types of injury.
